Death of GW Australia

Or how I found new game systems.

In a rather sudden move, GW has locked down it's regions and is preventing independent retailers from selling GW products outside of their regions.  What does this mean for me?  Well GW Australian RRP is currently running at almost 100% markup vs the UK or US RRP's.  Why is this so? Well GW hasn't bothered to pay any attention to Australia and NZ, and kept on hiking up our prices along with everyone elses despite our stronger dollar.  This was okay since we just went and bought our goods overseas for a reasonable price.  This avenue is now closed to us, so I either have to stuff around with mail forwarders, or stop buying from GW.  I'm leaning toward the later as I just can't be f#@ked dealing with GW's crap anymore.

My gut reaction is to start selling off some of my armies to fund purchases into new gaming systems, so what should I invest in?  I'm looking for something to replace my current Warhammer 40k addiction so it will need to be a bit bigger than your average skirmish game.  Any suggestions?

Eltnot.

Infinity is a good choice

4irw4lk3r, I noticed that game again today and had a quick look during my lunch break. The models look really nice although it seems a little too skirmishy for my liking. I will endevour to look into it more once I finish my next assignment.

Wish I had an answer for you.
There are obviously other games that are similar sized and also 28mm to fit in with your current terrain.
I'd encourage you to get off the 28mm and look even further afield to what else is available, particularly in the heavily developing 15mm market.

Is should say that if you're looking to pick up a game at clubs though, you'll need to either stick with Games Workshop.
Maybe Flames of War has a similar level of following?
A move to anything other than 40k, fantasy, or Flames will make it difficult to find opponents in a club or tournament setting...

I'm less concerned about finding opponents. If I can find a good game system, then I'm sure I can find other people willing to start playing also. There are always birthdays to ensure I have at least one opponent... :P

Privateerpress has a Voltron game, and is therefore the superior choice

As you might have seen when you were at Cowcon good sir, a good chunk of us Rocky players are moving over to Warmachine. In fact currently we're having more Warmachine games at the club than we're having 40k ones... but it's only early days yet.
