Sisters of Battle Armylist Update

Well Games Workshop has released "new" PDF's of the With Hunter and Daemon Hunter Codices.  I use the term "new" loosely as all that has been done is removal of the allies and inducted options.  QM3 will be allowing the use of the old paperbacks, but I feel that I might as well build my army according to the "new" versions.  If I use my inducted guard platoon, then it just means I have to paint more models straight after in case Orktoberfest or other tournaments that I intend to attend don't allow it.  After some thought, I've decided to keep my changes minimal and replace the platoon with a squad of Storm Troopers in a Chimera.  I already have a squad of these guys that just need to be stripped.  I'll use my missionary model who is wielding a plasmagun to the unit.  Game wise, he'll just count as a regular Storm Trooper, but fluff wise he's a favoured clergy member.  To protect him on his travels the church has appointed him a unit of bodyguards to protect him as he leads the way along the path of righteousness into battle.  The less questions said about where he got the Chimera from, the better.

I'd like to convert the Chimera a little instead of using a stock standard one.  The main reason being is that the WH codex version only has two fire points and no ability to fire the lasguns, so they need to go.  Here's a few models of other people's that I'm using for inspiration:
I like this one the most.

I've gotten my hands on an older model with the individual road wheels making this conversion a possibility also.

This is a similar example to the first one.

In light of doing this conversion, I also went down to the local Hobby store and picked up a small saw for cutting through the plastic.  I picked up two sets of blades so that I can have some finer control over my cutting.  I also grabbed some fresh blades for my hobby knife as my current ones are getting a bit old and dull.  I'll let you all know how the saw works out as this is the first time I've tried anything like this before.

FoW - How to make Fields

A while back I came across the idea for making wheat fields out of door mats on the FoW forums.  I tried to track something suitable at all of the hardware stores, but the closest thing I could find was over $15 AU and I'd have to peel off the glued on felt like substance that said "Welcome" on it in bright green.  It wasn't until about a month ago that I popped into a thread created by "Big Gav".  Big Gav happens to be my current source of inspiration for FoW terrain building, the stuff that man makes is amazing.  In this instance however, he was pointing out that the mats that he buys to make wheat fields can be bought from Target and they were having 30% off.  I popped into Target a week later and picked up two coir mats for $14 AU, brilliant!  Here's how it works:

Step 1.
Get the mat, turn it over and mark out how you want to cut it up.  In half and quarters is ideal.  Do all of this outside as it excess matting comes off the mat and makes things messy.

Step 2.
Carefully cut the rubber of the mat along the line you just marked out.  Take two or three goes slicing slightly deeper each time, making sure your lines are straight.

Step 3.
Take your sections of wheat field and lay them with the rubber side up.  Use PVA glue to run a fine line along one edge of the rubber.  Push static grass against it to cover the black rubber.  Do this with the opposite side and then let it dry for an hour or so.  Once it's dry do the remaining two sides.

Your wheat field is now complete.  Happy gaming.

Sisters of Battle WIP

So I'm committed to going down to play at Quarter Master III in August. I also don't want to take the Iyanden Eldar again. So that leaves me with painting my Tau, or my Sisters. The sisters are probably a bit further on then my Tau (and don't require me to buy an airbrush to get all of the tanks finished), so I'll be fielding the girls. The army is mostly basecoated to a minimum of three colours but there's a few conversion that I need to do to bring the army up to date, due to the change of points in my Inducted Imperial Guard Platoon. Here's how the army currently looks.

And here's the list I intend to run:
Armylist

I had to save the file to a pdf as blogger wasn't displaying the spreadsheet properly.

Splashdown 2010

Here's some photos from the Gladstone Splashdown Tournament. Apparently my camera must have been setup for close up work a lot of the shots a blurry but you get the idea. Good times had by all and I ended up with 4th overall.
